The IDB has signed with Vielca the “Development of the Master Plan for the sustainable management of rainwater in the metropolitan area of San Salvador.
The overall objective is to define, through a comprehensive, strategic and participatory approach at the grass-roots level (with emphasis on gender equality), the preventive and/or remedial actions, both structural and non-structural, needed for the proper functioning of the rainwater drainage system to be implemented and/or improved in the AMSS, for the mitigation of short-, medium- and long-term floods, taking into account the growth and expansion of the urban fabric, so as to constitute an instrument for planning and implementing preventive and/or remedial actions. structural and non-structural, legal, environmental, social, institutional and financial, ensuring an integrated management of AMSS stormwater drainage
