The Government of Nicaragua’s strategic framework for road network development, implemented through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, includes plans to expand the capacity of the main road network and secondary corridors. To this end, the government has prioritized the “Feasibility Study and Design for the Improvement of the Masaya Bypass” project, which entails widening the road to four lanes. This project will facilitate and expedite the movement of freight and passengers, thereby improving service levels and reducing travel times—as well as vehicle operating costs—for freight and passenger transport between the cities of Masaya, Granada, and Managua.
